Why rent a Model Y in Seattle
It is the most versatile car in our electric lineup: room for five and their bags, a big cargo area with the rear seats folded, and all-wheel drive for wet roads. It is an easy car for a SeaTac Airport trip, a weekend on the Olympic Peninsula or a drive to the mountains. Each car’s Turo listing shows its pickup and delivery options, such as SeaTac Airport (SEA).
Range and charging
The range figures above are rated numbers. Real range drops in cold weather and at highway speed, so plan a charging stop on longer winter drives. Seattle and the main routes out of the city have plenty of Tesla Superchargers.
Is a Model Y good for snow and the passes?
All-wheel drive does not replace chains in Washington. When WSDOT calls “chains required, except all-wheel drive,” an AWD car may drive on without chains only if it carries chains, and at the “all vehicles” stage every car must chain up. Chains are not in our cars by default: add the paid Snow chains Extra on the car’s Turo listing when you book a winter mountain trip. Mount Rainier National Park asks every vehicle to carry chains from November 1 to May 1.
